Day 14

One of David’s tires was flat when we woke up this morning.

Ellie’s back tire went flat about 20 minutes after we left the campground in Starke.

Dad’s sunglasses broke.

We wound up on a dirt road that Google maps said would help us cut the angle. We decided to try it, but a gate was blocking it so we had to backtrack.

It was hot.

David’s derailer broke.

At first we thought the campground where we are staying tonight didn’t have showers, so Ladina rinsed off at the pool shower before we realized there really was a shower house!

The slide out on the RV wouldn’t come out so Grandpa had to push it.

I got sunburned even though I put sunscreen on twice!

With a list like this, you would think we had a bad day. It wasn’t easy, but it was a great day! We are just so thankful to all be together! We are thankful we get to do something like this!

As I was riding behind Jenna and Ellie this morning, pride surged up in me. “Wow, look at these pros! Look how far they have come!” It is hard to believe this trip is already almost over!

Highlights of the day included a great breakfast at PJ’s, little wind, blue skies with puffy clouds, a beautiful shaded spot for lunch, Grandma and Lil’s 5-star service, riding past some beautiful horse ranches, wildflowers, and the cold pool at the end of the day.

  2. Perspective is everything, isn't it? Love Lil's sign...as Quizzing Coach Darrell used to say, "there's no shortcut for hard work." Way to go, you're almost there!!

  5. So glad you're all doing well and at the end of the day you're still altogether and safe. Just giving you all something to look forward to when yous come back. The Safe Harbor Trestle bridge is open on the Enola Low Grade Trail. The Martic Forge Trestle Bridge is not open yet but you can get around it and back on the trail. Have a safe trip.
