Memorial Day Weekend

So for Memorial Day weekend, our family decided to bike over the Appalachians because we're crazy like that. It was a lot of fun though! It was kind of like a test run for our big trip in June, because Grandma and Ladina drove the RV with Jenna and Ellie along, just like we'll do then. It helped us figure out things we will need, and better ways to do things. Plus it gave us practice and more miles!
On Friday night we camped west of Gettysburg. It was a lovely campground. Then on Saturday we started out about 8:00 and rode down through Maryland. We ended up near Hancock. Then we went a little further to tackle a challenging Sideling Hill - 4 miles long! All in all on Saturday, we rode about 70 miles. Papa Dave says that hilly 70 miles will be the same, if not harder than any 90 miles a day we would ride in June. Yay! We drove the rest of the way to the our destination Saturday evening instead of camping again and riding the rest of the way on Sunday because of a change of plans. It felt good to accomplish something like that though! The rest of the weekend was lovely, spent on the lake with family.
